Ciphon
Ciphon is a web app that helps students find research opportunities and connect with professors. It finds relevant faculty and research information, then helps students create personalized cold emails to make contacting professors more effective.

About Ciphon
Is Ciphon legit?
Ciphon was listed on IndieAppCircle in July 2026 by Aaron Phan, who opened it to independent testers. 1 independent tester has used it since and had their feedback accepted by the maker (2 tests submitted in total). It is distributed through its own website at ciphonai.com. IndieAppCircle is a peer feedback exchange, not a paid-review site: testers earn credits only for feedback the maker accepts, and nobody is paid to be positive. We record what happened here; we do not vouch for a product's business practices.
What platforms does Ciphon run on?
Ciphon runs on Web. The maker built it for a general audience.
Is Ciphon still looking for testers?
Not right now. The listing is closed to new tests because the maker's credit balance no longer covers the 14-credit reward. The 1 approved review stays here as a record. It reopens on its own once the maker tops up — if that is you, sign in and check your dashboard.
How do testers review Ciphon on IndieAppCircle?
Testers are other indie developers. They open Ciphon, follow the maker's test instructions, and write up first impressions, confusing moments and bugs. The maker reads each write-up and either approves it — which pays the tester — or rejects it. Only approved feedback is counted on this page. There are no star ratings and IndieAppCircle pays nobody to review anything; it is a feedback exchange, not a review site.
