Friction

Add friction to distraction. Block sites with a soft nudge and a quick math challenge. Stop mindless browsing. Start choosing intentionally. Friction doesn't hard-block websites. It interrupts you for five seconds so you can decide if you actually want to be there — then makes you earn your way in. How it works Visit a site on your block list and a calm overlay appears showing you how long you've spent there today and how many times you've already bypassed it. You can go back — or proceed by solving a quick challenge. Two challenge types Math — Solve 3 multiplication problems. Takes about 10 seconds and snaps your brain back online. Memory grid — A 5×5 grid flashes 6 tiles for 5 seconds. Remember them, then pick them out. Harder to do on autopilot. Snooze, don't punish Complete the challenge and choose how long to unlock the site: 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour, or until midnight. When the timer expires, Friction returns automatically — no manual re-blocking needed. Deep Work mode Starting a focused session? Activate Deep Work and all your blocked sites become hard-blocked for the duration. No challenges, no bypasses. A live countdown badge stays on screen so you can see your session time at a glance. Focus Score Your daily Focus Score starts at 100 and counts down based on time spent on distraction sites. Watch it recover as you stay on task. The sidebar shows your top distraction site for the day so you know exactly where your attention is leaking.

About Friction

Is Friction legit?

Friction was listed on IndieAppCircle in March 2026 by Connor Keane, who opened it to independent testers. 3 independent testers have used it since and had their feedback accepted by the maker. It is distributed through the Chrome Web Store. IndieAppCircle is a peer feedback exchange, not a paid-review site: testers earn credits only for feedback the maker accepts, and nobody is paid to be positive. We record what happened here; we do not vouch for a product's business practices.

What platforms does Friction run on?

Friction runs on Chrome extension and Web. The maker built it for a general audience.

Is Friction still looking for testers?

Not right now. The listing is closed to new tests because the maker's credit balance no longer covers the 13-credit reward. The 3 approved reviews stay here as a record. It reopens on its own once the maker tops up — if that is you, sign in and check your dashboard.

How do testers review Friction on IndieAppCircle?

Testers are other indie developers. They open Friction, follow the maker's test instructions, and write up first impressions, confusing moments and bugs. The maker reads each write-up and either approves it — which pays the tester — or rejects it. Only approved feedback is counted on this page. There are no star ratings and IndieAppCircle pays nobody to review anything; it is a feedback exchange, not a review site.
